New asylum accommodation – 100 refugees are now to be accommodated in Traun

Vortex in Traun! The city was informed yesterday by the federal government that 100 refugees are to be accommodated in new asylum accommodation in December. The mayor and municipal council are against the construction, but cannot prevent it.

The mayor of Traun, Karl-Heinz Koll (ÖVP), was informed in writing on Wednesday about the establishment of asylum accommodation in the city of Traun. It was announced that 100 people seeking protection will be accommodated in Traun for an indefinite period from December. The city of Traun has no legal recourse against it and, despite a resolution, is unfortunately faced with a fait accompli. The mayor and the municipal council are against the construction of the asylum center under the current conditions, but cannot prevent it. Relevant information is missingThe mayor regrets that all relevant information is missing at this point in time. Unfortunately, the federal government does not refer to the demands and concerns. “I would like to see better communication and cooperation between the federal government and the municipalities,” says Mayor Koll. “Yesterday, after receiving the letter, I immediately informed the municipal council and the district governor,” the mayor continued. Round table is convened “I assure you that I will do everything to maintain our infrastructure for our citizens,” says Koll. In addition, the city will coordinate and quickly implement measures (such as increasing security) in connection with the BH Linz-Lanz, the mayor of the city of Linz, the district police command, the Red Cross and all blue light organizations as soon as possible. “In addition, I will continue to do my utmost to ensure that we are supported by the federal government to continue to ensure safety in our city. We are currently also examining the possibility of an additional security service, because security must come first,” concluded the mayor of Traun.
