With l’OPPO Find N launched at the very end of last year, the Chinese brand had brilliantly interfered with folding smartphones. And it should not stop there since another model is on the horizon.
This mysterious phone, which has not yet been formalized, would opt for a format close to that of the future Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 4.
Compact but efficient
Thus, according to hallway noises heard on the Weibo social network, OPPO would be working on another folding smartphone. Its particularity would be at the level of its clamshell format. Like the Huawei P50 Pocket, this umpteenth phone with a foldable screen could benefit from an extremely compact design. It must be said that such a format is very popular with consumers today.
For the moment, we have not had the opportunity to see a temporary or definitive rendering of the smartphone signed OPPO. On the other hand, this leak tells us that it should be equipped with a Snapdragon 8 Gen 1+ chip, that is to say the next processor that Qualcomm will unveil during the summer. The Galaxy Z Flip 4 will also opt for this chip which should do a lot of good for the performance of these phones.
Towards an attractive price?
More interestingly, OPPO seems to want to position itself among the most affordable folding clamshell smartphones on the market. Indeed, where the Huawei P50 Pocket is sold for 8988 yuan (1293 €) and the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 3 around 1064 €, the model designed by the Chinese firm could be marketed at “only” 5000 yuan, that is to say say about 719 €.
A very aggressive price that raises some questions… We can imagine that OPPO will make savings in certain compartments, starting with the compact format mentioned above which should come to reduce costs. Unfortunately, since the OPPO Find N has never been released beyond the Chinese borders, we have the right to think that the same will be true for this second folding smartphone. Its launch could take place in China as early as 2022.
