New battery king: This e-car recharges itself in a flash

With the G9, XPeng has introduced a new electric car that wants to score points above all with its rapid charging performance. According to the Chinese manufacturer, five minutes should be enough to reach a range of up to 200 km. Nevertheless, there is a catch.

XPeng G9: E-car with strong charging power

Nobody likes to stand around at the charging station, which is why the XPeng G9 could be of interest to the impatient. According to the manufacturer the e-car takes just five minutesto draw power for a range of up to 200 km. That would be significantly faster than is the case with other electric cars.

In the announcement of the G9, however, XPeng also mentioned that such charging performance is not to be expected everywhere. Only at special charging stations from the manufacturer a five-minute stop should suffice. 480 kW are then available here. The manufacturer has not revealed how the battery is filled in other charging stations.

According to the China Light-Duty Vehicle Test Cycle (CLTC), the XPeng G9 should have a total of one Range of 702 km feature. The manufacturer has kept to itself how the capacity of the battery is. But they are certain that they have presented the “world’s fastest charging production EV” (source: XPeng).

the twice the engine power of the G9 is 405 kW. The engine on the rear axle creates 230 kW, the front 175 kW. It should go from 0 to 100 km/h in three seconds. With the assistance system package X-Pilot 4.0, semi-autonomous driving according to level 2 is possible. Drivers must therefore continue to keep a constant eye on the traffic while the car accelerates, brakes and stays in lane.
