The world welcomes Rishi Sunak to office

Rishi Sunak faces numerous challenges following his appointment. Many of his colleagues welcome him to office.
King Charles III (73) has appointed Rishi Sunak (42) as the new Prime Minister of Great Britain. Numerous heads of state and high-ranking politicians, including Olaf Scholz (64) and Joe Biden (79), congratulate the 42-year-old – and hope for good cooperation.
Strong connection in “difficult times”
Ursula von der Leyen (64) congratulated on Twitter on the appointment. In addition, the President of the European Commission wrote: “In these difficult times for our continent, we count on a strong relationship with the United Kingdom to defend our common values in full compliance with our agreements.”
EU Council President Charles Michel (46) previously also congratulated about the platform and vowed solidarity. Only together can we face the common challenges, “and stability is the key to overcoming them”.
“Congratulations,” wrote German Chancellor Olaf Scholz also on Twitter. He is looking forward to “our continued cooperation and partnership in NATO and G7 as close friends”.
Appointment of Sunak a “milestone”
US President Joe Biden thumps alongside his congratulations to Sunak also good cooperation. He looks forward to expanded cooperation on matters of global security and prosperity – including continued strong support for Ukraine. Biden also announced Sunak’s appointment during a White House reception According to media reports referred to as a “groundbreaking milestone”.
“Congratulations to Rishi Sunak who has been appointed Prime Minister of the United Kingdom,” wrote French President Emmanuel Macron (44) at Twitter. Together they want to tackle the current challenges, “including the war in Ukraine and its many effects on Europe and the whole world”.
Also the Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyj (44) congratulated on the short message service and spoke of wanting to strengthen the relationship between the countries. He also wished Sunak that he could rise to whatever challenges Britain and the world were facing.
Last but not least, the Dutch Prime Minister Mark Rutte (55) via twitter his “sincere congratulations”. He wishes Sunak “every conceivable success”. He is also looking forward to further deepening the “excellent, long-standing connections between the Netherlands and Great Britain”.
