New button on WhatsApp: Caution! If you press it, the messenger even reveals your passwords

WHATSAPP

The video chat on WhatsApp is apparently being further upgraded. Messenger could soon allow screen sharing. Practical. But the function also harbors dangers.

  • So far you cannot share your screen in a video chat on WhatsApp.
  • Apparently that will change soon. A corresponding function appeared in May in the Android beta and now also in the Windows beta of the messenger.
  • But be careful! The function then records even secret data such as passwords.

Messenger WhatsApp is currently testing a practical feature for video calls. So it should soon be possible to share your screen during a phone call. This can be useful, for example, if you want to help someone remotely with a problem on their cell phone.

Beware, everything is transferred!

But be careful! You should be aware that Messenger will record everything that is on your screen and transmit it to your contact. This can also be passwords or payment data. WhatsApp itself points this out in a pop-up when you activate the feature. So you should think carefully about when you activate the function and what you then do on your screen.

According to the fan blog WABetaInfo, the function was initially only available in the beta version 2.23.11.19 of the messenger for Android devices, but now it has also appeared in the Windows beta of WhatsApp, the website reports. Only in the iOS beta it has not yet been discovered. If it also appears there soon, this indicates an early release.
