After two sluggish years, the market for tv box should regain color and pass the bar of 100 million copies sold per year by 2026.

Many manufacturers have ventured to develop their own TV box, but for some time the market seems to be struggling.

New products expected from Google and Apple to boost TV box sales

The COVID-19 pandemic, as well as the difficulties in supplying components and logistics, have not allowed the various brands to offer major new products, and this immobility is felt in sales. Indeed, TV box sales should decrease by 1.2% in 2022 with 80 million copies distributed, all brands combined.

Analysts are however optimistic for the future and Kagan, a firm specializing in media research, sees the end of the tunnel and a return to growth next year.

We forecast a compound annual growth rate of 4.1% for shipments from 2021 to 2026, which will be enough to grow the market to nearly 100 million units in 2026 “Explains the company, which also indicates that within four years, 313.5 million TV boxes will be installed in homes against 232.6 million today.

To justify this analysis, Kagan adds that many new products are being prepared by manufacturers, likely to boost sales in this category. Rumors indeed announce a new generation of Chromecast at Google, as well as a new Apple TV to be released in the coming months. Amazon has updated its range in 2021 with the release of the Fire TV Stick 4K Max.
