New climate platform – “Carinthian politicians urgently need to act now”

Independent of imports with wind power
Wind power was represented by Stefan Moidl from IG Wind, who pointed out the somewhat deceptive Carinthian energy balance. “Throughout the year, Carinthia produces more electricity with renewable energies than is needed, but in winter hydropower is not productive enough and a quarter of the electricity consumption has to be imported,” Moidl clarifies. “Wind power could close this gap. With 140 wind turbines by 2030, Carinthia could produce 2.3 TWH of electricity, which corresponds to our natural gas consumption.”
