In an interview, Angela Finger-Erben talks about her premiere as “daughter-in-law wanted” presenter and reveals details about the candidates.

Angela Finger-Erben (44) is the new presenter of “Daughter-in-Law Wanted”. RTL (also via RTL+) will show the eight new episodes of the dome show every Sunday at 7:05 p.m. from March 10th. In an interview with the news agency spot on news, the presenter reveals how her predecessor Vera Int-Veen (56) reacted to her successor, which candidates have cult potential this time and why she can empathize with the mothers on the show . The “I’m a Star – The Hour After” presenter also looks back on the past jungle camp and reveals why it was “one of the best seasons ever”.

What was it like for you to succeed Vera Int-Veen?

Angela Finger-Erben: If someone had told me a few years ago that I would one day be Vera’s successor, I would have just laughed in disbelief. I’m super grateful and it still feels unrealistic. Vera wrote to me straight away saying she was happy for me. That in turn made me happy.

Did you want to do something different than your predecessor?

Finger Heirs: Of course I’ll do something different because I’m a different person. Everyone brings their own touch. And that’s just as well. Otherwise it would be boring.

As a moderator, you have experience with dating formats. What is different about “daughter-in-law wanted”?

Finger heirs: The singles are really looking for true love and don’t want to become reality stars. They are completely normal people. And the biggest difference to other formats is that the mothers play a very big role. And that could sometimes be the reason why their sons don’t find true love. Some are very picky and talk down to their sons. But that’s exactly what makes it exciting.

What do you say about critical opinions about the show, for example that some contestants are being embarrassed or made fun of?

Finger-Erben: Respect for all candidates was important to me from the start. In this season, no one is exposed or paraded. Everyone presents themselves as they are.

“Looking for a daughter-in-law” always provides fans with special TV moments. Who has what it takes to be a cult candidate this time?

Finger Heirs: Basically all of them, because they’re all unique. And also very entertaining. But butcher Sascha and his mother Regina have a very unusual greeting ritual. They cluck at each other like chickens. This could become a cult. But “DSDS” cult star Claudia and her mother Maria are also absolutely unique. There will definitely be something for the audience.

The candidates come from a wide variety of backgrounds, with Christian even going to Mallorca. Did you visit everyone and what was it like for you?

Finger-Erben: I wasn’t there for all of them, but I was for many of them. Every visit was exciting. What struck me as very positive is that almost all men can cook really well. The way to love is through your stomach.

What advantages and disadvantages have you found when singles go looking for love with their mothers?

Finger-Erben: I’m a mother too. And I only want the best for my daughters. But some mothers might exaggerate it a little (laughs). Some sons also live at home with their parents. Bathroom, washing machine, kitchen, everything is shared. A woman has to be able to get involved with it first. But one advantage is of course that – when the right woman is found – both son and mother are happy. However, one mother felt that after a few hours she wanted to send all the women home. This was more than difficult for the son because he found the lady very nice and good. We’ll see how the story ends on March 10th. I’m looking forward to it.

“DSDS” star Claudia and her mother Maria are looking for true love together. How would you describe the duo?

Finger Heirs: The two are very close and almost like best friends. They see each other every day. Both are very loving, but have very specific ideas when it comes to men. Of course I can’t reveal which of them found a husband, or even both of them. But there will be very funny and, above all, emotional situations with the mother-daughter team.

How do you look back on the last season of the jungle camp, what were your highlights and favorite candidates?

Finger-Erben: For me it was one of the best seasons ever. It was all there. The trio of Kim-Mike-Leyla was worth their weight in gold. The highlight is of course “The Hour After” with Olivia Jones (54). We had the best guests again, good talks and a lot of laughter. Best entertainment with the best ratings. I’m just grateful and super proud that this small basement show on RTL+ is now an integral part of “IBES”. But that’s only possible with the best team at ITV. What we rock out every day is simply amazing.

Who would you want to make the All-Star squad?

Finger Heirs: Since I already know a few, I’ll hold back. The person who is NOT allowed in under any circumstances is Olivia Jones. I would need them next to me in the studio.
