AQUAMAN AND THE LOST KINGDOM: THEATER RELEASE POSTPONED TO 2023, ALL ACTORS, TRAILER & INFORMATION ABOUT THE PLOT

  • Warner is once again working on the release calendar.
  • DC fans are unlucky, because two upcoming blockbusters are moving several months into the future.
  • Netzwelt reveals why you have to wait longer for “Aquaman 2” and “Shazam 2”.

It’s not easy being a DC fan. While Marvel expands its own film universe every year with numerous new releases, Warner Bros. is hardly making any progress. Worse still, films are being canceled or just kept being postponed while vague plans for the future are made behind the scenes.

With Batgirl never appearing and the future of The Flash uncertain, three sure projects remain: Black Adam, Shazam: Fury of the Gods, and Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom. While “Black Adam” should actually be released in cinemas on October 20th, the waiting time for the other titles has now been significantly extended again.

So “Shazam 2” says goodbye to December 2022 and ends up in March 2023. “Aquaman 2” was supposed to start there, but it won’t be released until December 2023. The reason for the postponement of “Aquaman” is that the post-production of the film needs more time.

It is not entirely clear whether this statement is true, after all there were still seven months left until the film was actually scheduled to start in March. “Shazam” meanwhile has a really higher chance of success in March, after all the film no longer starts in direct competition with “Avatar 2”.

Warner Bros. may be hoping that the postponement of “Aquaman 2” will give them enough time to plan the future of the DCEU. For example, Michael Keaton was slated to appear as Batman in a post-credits scene, but Keaton’s performance in Batgirl will never be publicized and Keaton’s starring role in The Flash is also in jeopardy.

Thus, a new post-credits scene was shot with Ben Affleck’s Batman, but Warner may not be satisfied with this solution either, which would immediately throw the newly returned Michael Keaton out of the Bat costume. Keaton himself wouldn’t mind, he’s already been paid, but fans of Tim Burton’s Batman movies have been waiting for Keaton’s return for years.

At the moment, any Warner production, especially DC’s, should be treated with caution. Restructuring by a new level of management can lead to the most wondrous decisions that may make sense from a financial perspective but not from a movie fan perspective. At least one can look forward to the early release of “Black Adam” in cinemas.
