German automakers have to be careful. With brands like BYD, Hyundai, Kia, Nio and Aiways, there is increasing competition from Asia. Chinese manufacturers in particular are really getting involved with e-cars. One of them has now announced a Stromer that is to develop into an ID competitor and be specially tailored to Europe.

There are many car manufacturers in China, and by no means all of them are big or well-known here. In this case, the situation is completely different: SAIC is the largest Chinese automotive group and works closely with VW, among others. The compact electric vehicle called MG Mulan is visually convincing. However, the Chinese name is not expected for the international market. As the electric successor to the MG 3 compact car, it should in Europe as MG 4 on the road be.

Lease an e-car and collect a bonus of €6,000

It shouldn’t be long until the time comes: The performance is likely to be in Great Britain in 2022. The introduction for continental Europe is to follow (source: Auto Motor Sport).

The MG 4 will be built on SAIC’s Nebula platform. That would mean rear-wheel drive and a battery pack built into the underbody. The manufacturer is still holding back with further details. Only from one Acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h in under 4 seconds is already mentioned. That would go well with the sporty exterior.

No matter which manufacturer, these reasons speak for buying an electric car:

Chinese carmaker is targeting VW

With its compact dimensions – an expected length of around 4.30 m – the MG 4 is a direct competitor for the ID.3, but above all for the Cupra Born. MG could cost the VW group a few electric customers. Especially since it is to be expected that the Chinese want to score points with a low price. It is quite possible that VW and Ford will not be late with their plans for an electric car under 25,000 euros before 2025.
