The flight plan for the coming week still looks lush. On Sunday, among other things, five flights from London, twice Copenhagen, Manchester, Amsterdam, Rotterdam and Eindhoven. Just a selection of flights from the UK, Denmark, Netherlands and Norway that will be classified as virus variant areas as of Saturday. In future, three vaccinations and a PCR test will be required for entry to avoid quarantine. It is difficult to estimate how many holiday-hungry people have already had the third vaccination. In hardly any other European country there are as many third-party tricks as in Austria, and today nobody knows whether the flight schedule will actually look like this on Sunday. “It won’t all go to zero. But we have to wait and see how the tour operators assess the situation, ”says airport spokesman Alexander Klaus. Because one thing is clear: there is no landing ban for machines from the so-called virus variant areas. Entry is only made more difficult. Specifically: If you don’t have three vaccinations, you have to be in quarantine for ten days. From the fifth day onwards you can test yourself. A vacation only pays off in exceptional cases. Removal from the German red list would be a signal that this regulation could affect the airport and the hotel industry, especially in January. Because of the 760 planned landings, 420 come from the four countries mentioned – more than 55 percent. There are 205 from Great Britain alone, and another 118 from the Netherlands. At Christmas, however, there will be some relief from another side. From Saturday, Germany will lift Austria’s classification as a high-risk area. This means that vaccinated German guests do not have to register on their return journey.
