If you’ve had enough of the week’s Apple news, you’ll take some Windows 11 news. Microsoft has rolled out build 25475 to the Windows Insider Canary program. This version notably offers a major overhaul of the file explorer interface.

The firm has completely ported its file explorer to Windows App SDK to be able to switch the interface to WinUI, its modern API. This gives a whole new look that is much more harmonious with Windows 11.

The address and search bar have been reworked and the tabs are now naturally integrated. For OneDrive storage, an icon allows you to quickly find out about the free storage space.

And RGB control for gamers

Another function already announced by Microsoft is coming to Windows 11 with this preview: RGB light control. Players have been familiar with the systems put in place by brands like Corsair iCue, ROG Aura, etc. for several years. Here, Microsoft proposes to create a standard directly in Windows 11.

Several partners of the firm play the game: Acer, Asus, HP, HyperX, Logitech, Razer and Twinkly will make their products compatible with Windows Dynamic Lightning.

If you have devices compatible with the new system, you will be able to configure the light effects directly from the Windows 11 settings in the personalization section.

Build 23475 also offers other changes, such as the arrival of Emoji 15 or a new version of the game interface in the Microsoft Store.

The new features tested in this preview may never see the light of day in the stable version of Windows. In this case, we still expect a deployment in the fall with Windows Copilot.
