It’s not just iOS 16 in Apple’s life, and the American giant is also testing new firmware for its AirPods.

This will be the fifth major update for the AirPods line.

An update on the way for the AirPods range

Apple recently formalized the new versions of iOS, iPadOS, macOS and watchOS, but the American giant has not forgotten its AirPods range, also powered by dedicated firmware. Indeed, Apple’s wireless headphones and Bluetooth headphones will soon benefit from a new major update, the latter being already available in beta version for developers.

A beta version called “5A5282d” which requires iOS 16 (also in beta version) to function, and which should in particular optimize the automatic switch from one device to another. To this would be added a new function related to personalized spatial audio which will be integrated in iOS 16, through the TrueDepth camera of the iPhone.

However, this version is not available for the first generation of AirPods. Apple also specifies that once this beta is installed, it is not possible to go back. We will obviously have to wait a few more weeks or months to see Apple deploy this new update for the AirPods range. So be patient.
