New fuel allowance: are you one of the 10 million lucky ones?


We finally know more about the new pump aid promised by the government. Invited on RTL this Wednesday, December 7, the Prime Minister, Élisabeth Borne, detailed the new fuel allowance which will replace the pump discount of 10 cents until December 31. From January 1, the 10 million poorest French people will be entitled to aid of €100.

“We are going to set up a fuel allowance for modest French people who need their car to go to work, so it’s €100 for about half of the householdssaid Elisabeth Borne. This represents a discount of around 10 cents per liter at the pump”. But this aid will be limited to “top five income decilesIn concrete terms, only French people with a tax income per unit of less than €14,089 will be affected.

Note that no mileage condition is mentioned, and that the amount can reach €200 if the household includes two taxable adults and two vehicles necessary for business travel. The assistance also applies to any type of vehicle, including two-wheelers.

To benefit from it, the persons concerned will have to connect to the tax site, fill in their tax number as well as their license plate, and declare on their honor that they need their vehicle to get to work. According to the government, the aid is then paid directly, all at once, into the bank account, without any additional steps.
