PC announcements never end at CES in Las Vegas. While Asus should unveil new versions of its laptop PCs aimed at professionals and creatives (Zenbook, Vivobook), its Republic of Gamers division, or ROG for short, has just announced new versions for its Zephyrus and Strix PCs. .
On the program: a new, very elegant design for the ROG Zephyrus G14 and 16 as well as a new screen for the ROG Strix Scar 16 and 18 vintage 2024. We summarize all that for you.
ROG Zephyrus: a super elegant gaming ultrabook
The star of the Asus ROG range in 2024 will undoubtedly be the Zephyrus, new version of its gaming ultrabook. This year, the model is further refined while sporting a brand new design with a beautiful matte finish. Available in two colors (Eclipse Gray and Platinum White), the Zephyrus continues to bet on aesthetics and nomadism in a gaming machine.
And as is the case for many gaming laptops this year, the screen is finally switching to Oled with a definition of 3K (2880 x 1800 pixels) and a refresh rate of 120 Hz for the 14-inch version. , and 2.5 K (2880 x 1800) at 240 Hz for the 16-inch version. The two Strix Scar models, in 16 and 18 inch diagonals, now offer Mini LED screens that can reach up to 1100 cd/m² in peak brightness, while reducing blooming with its 2000 zones of brightness. local dimming. These two panels both offer a refresh rate of 240 Hz, a new standard these days, compatibility with Nvidia’s G-Sync as well as Dolby Vision.
And for these competition machines, Asus has chosen 14th generation Intel Core i9 processors (24 cores, 32 threads) and Nvidia GeForce RTX 4080 (for the 16-inch) and RTX 4090 (for the 18-inch) GPUs for a substantial TGP of 175 W. All in a chassis with a redesigned cooling system based on liquid metal.
