It has been more than 12 years since Xavier Dupont de Ligonnès gave any sign of life. On April 15, 2011, the fugitive was seen for the last time in Roquebrune-sur-Argens, in the Var. His family, consisting of his wife and four children, was found murdered on April 21, 2011. in their Nantes home. The authorities suspect the father of having coldly killed the members of his clan. His motives are still unclear, although the adulteries of his companion, Agnès Dupont de Ligonnès have been mentioned. Since then, he has been one of the most wanted men in France.

This Sunday, April 9, France 2 returned to this macabre affair, as part of the documentary series “disappeared”. In the report of the show 1:15 p.m., Sunday, presented by Laurent Delahousse, we were able to meet Michel, a long-time friend of Xavier Dupont de Ligonnès. The latter decided to trace the course he had with the disappeared. He notably returned to the trip they had made together in the United States. On this occasion, the spectators were able to see unpublished photos of the suspect. Posing in holiday attire, Xavier Dupont de Ligonnès blended into the crowd. “He could pass for an American without any problem,” confessed his former best friend.

A crime scene combed through

The show’s team also interviewed Philippe Esperança, a blood spatter expert, who analyzed the crime scene of the Dupont de Ligonnès family.. He was surprised by the lack of traces on the scene: “We feel that there is an almost complete preparation. It’s amazing to think of so many things. We all have crime scenes in mind where people have thought of doing such and such a thing, but in such a complete way, I don’t remember having seen it…“said the expert, before adding: “I even had the impression at one moment, that there was no more human spirit, that it was a robot which acted. We say vulgarly: ‘I put my brain a little aside and it’s now my body that acts’. And it really gives that impression.“
