“In this series mixing action and thriller, we explore how the mistakes of the past can destroy our future… After several cyberattacks in London, the French government secretly assigns the mercenary Gabriel Delage to find hackers on the run, with the aim of bringing them back to Paris where they will find asylum.
In the English capital, Gabriel crosses paths with Alison Rowdy, the assistant to the Minister of Security of Great Britain, with whom he shares a troubled and sulphurous past. Despite their extremely conflicted relationship today, Alison agrees to help Gabriel. With the assistance of his ex, he intends to recover the information he needs on the hackers, in order to prove who is really behind these attacks and save the country from other potential future disasters…”
Connection is a fiction of six episodes of 60 minutes each, available on the Apple TV+ platform from Friday February 24, 2023.
Who is it with?
In the credits of Liaison, Apple TV + subscribers discover a whole list of talented actors. Eva Green and Vincent Cassel (who confided in AlloCiné on this project) are indeed the headliners here. These embody the terrible and cursed lovers Alison Rowdy and Gabriel Delage. But that’s not all…
The star duo also stars Daniel Francis (Albert Onwor), Peter Mullan (Richard Banks), Olivia Popica (Hobbs), Gérard Lanvin (Dumas), Stanislas Merhar (Didier Taraud), Irène Jacob (Sophie Saint Roch), Laëtitia Eïdo (Sabine Louseau), Patrick Malahide (Jack Rowdy) and Bukky Bakray (Kim).
The six parts of the series were written by Virginie Brac. She has in the past officiated on the Mortel, Insoupçonnable and Engrenages series. Stephen Hopkins is in charge of the production. He has worked in recent years on the fictions Le Fugitive, 24 heures: Legacy, House of Lies… and many others.

In Liaison, Vincent Cassel plays the main role in a series for the first time. Indeed, the actor had only intervened in fictions as a guest in the past, in particular in Westworld. Here, the actor therefore slips into the skin of Gabriel, a spy / mercenary responsible for repatriating at all costs to France hackers highly sought after by their bloodthirsty enemies.
Strong and badass, this ambivalent character, neither very nice nor very naughty but always rather sympathetic, however loses her means in the face of her ex, Alison, played by Eva Green. Sharing a heavy and sulphurous past, the relationship between the former lovers is complicated… However, despite the tension (often sexual) that exists between them, our heroes will have to help each other to prevent cyberattacks with deadly consequences.
Gabriel runs in all directions, fights fiercely or even grimaces to carry out his dangerous missions… and Vincent Cassel seems to be having a lot of fun! Alison, on the other hand, looks like she has the weight of the world on her shoulders (and she probably does), which Eva Green fully conveys on screen.
Liaison’s action and fight scenes are simple, effective and above all realistic. They give rhythm to the series which, unfortunately, sometimes lacks dynamism and progression. We regret, for example, not knowing earlier why Gabriel and Alison did not manage to save their couple in the past…
Carried by a duo of charismatic stars, the series can also count on its supporting roles: Gérard Lanvin, Irène Jacob, Daniel Francis, Stanislas Merhar and Laëtitia Eïdo each have important issues to interpret and defend them with conviction.
However, if the suspense remains permanent in Liaison, the sets are impressive and the cast is five stars, the series may lack even a hint of self-mockery to make it more pleasant and digest.
Without a doubt, fans of Vincent Cassel and Eva Green will nevertheless be delighted to discover their favorite actors in Liaison. Finally, thriller lovers will probably find their account by following this classified adventure.
