The lightweight Flyer Upstreet SL proves that an e-bike doesn’t always have to have the thickest battery and the most powerful motor. We introduce you to the 2024 innovation.

While last year the focus was on heavy SUV bikes, in 2024 light Pedelecs will be the trend again. That makes sense: after all, you don’t need a powerful mid-engine with a torque of over 80 Newton meters for typical errand runs in the city. And a battery range of more than 400 kilometers, as promised by the Fiido Titan, rarely makes sense.

After all, you carry e-city bikes more often, for example up and down stairs. Then every kilogram counts. In addition, lightweight e-bikes are usually visually more pleasing and correspond more closely to the typical bicycle image.
The Flyer Upstreet SL 2024 weighs significantly less than 20 kilograms. Despite being fully equipped including a luggage rack, side stand, mudguards and LED lighting system, it weighs 18 kilograms according to the manufacturer. A particularly quiet Bosch motor (Performance Line SX) with 55 Newton meters of torque serves as the drive.

The drive has a good center of gravity and is installed relatively inconspicuously in the middle of the frame. The 400 watt-hour battery sits barely visible in the down tube and can be supplemented with an additional battery in the shape of a drinking bottle if necessary.
The manufacturer offers the e-city bike in various configurations. The basic version has a derailleur gear with nine gears. Alternatively, the Flyer e-bike is also available with a belt drive and hub gear.
Price and availability
The Flyer Upstreet SL is available in the equipment levels Upstreet SL 3.10 XC (3,999 euros), SL 3.10 (4,199 euros) and SL 3.63 (5,899 euros). There you will also find another Flyer innovation from 2024, the Flyer Goroc TR:X, which is almost the exact opposite of the lightweight Upstreet SL.
