New management plan – Tourism and World Heritage: Continuing with measure and goal

Lake Neusiedl and the surrounding landscape are world heritage – this attracts guests from home and abroad. Of course, that also means responsibility.

Now representatives of the World Heritage Association Neusiedler See and the managing director of the North Burgenland Tourism Association have come together to discuss how to bring World Heritage and tourism under one roof as gently as possible, because one million overnight stays in the Neusiedler See area contribute significantly to the success of Burgenland tourism , but nature must be protected. According to Patrik Hierner, head of tourism, the “World Heritage brand” should be expanded further. To ensure that this is as environmentally friendly as possible, you want to create a new management plan together. The three pillars should be “The lake, the landscape, the towns”. On World Heritage Day, April 18, 2022, events are to take place in cooperation with the World Heritage communities and, above all, this year’s anniversary “20 years of World Heritage” will be celebrated retrospectively.
