The must-have of the week

Thieves : Mélanie Laurent’s new film, adapted from the eponymous comic book, features Adèle Exarchopoulos, Manon Bresch, Philippe Katerine, Felix Moati and Isabelle Adjani in the role of Godmother.

What is it about ? Carole and Alex are two genius thieves, and best friends since forever. Under Godmother’s control for years, they dream of being free. With the help of Sam, a motorcycle champion, they embark on a final adventure to free themselves from this life on the run.

FRIDAY, OCTOBER 27

Pain merchants : Liza Drake (Emily Blunt), a working-class single mother, is in a precarious situation after losing her job. If her chance meeting with Pete Brenner (Chris Evans), a pharmaceutical representative, gives her a glimpse of better days, it plunges her, at the same time, into a dangerous extortion affair.

The Orders of Evil : In post-war Spain, Narcisa (Aria Bedmar), a young novice with supernatural powers, arrives in a former convent converted into a girls’ school to become a teacher. As the days pass, the strange events and increasingly disturbing situations that torment her push her to unravel the terrible tangle of secrets that surround the convent and haunt its occupants.

Yellow Door : Underground laboratory of Korean cinema: This documentary film revisits the era which saw the birth of the first generation of Korean film buffs. Trained at the Yellow Door film club school, these cinema enthusiasts also talk about their impressions of director Bong Joon Ho’s first short film.

Torus : The story of Tore, 27 years old. When the person most important to him is run over by a garbage truck, Tore does everything he can to hide his grief. During the day, he continues to work at his father’s funeral home as if nothing had happened and begins flirting with Erik, the new florist. At night, he has fun on a cruise ship where he discovers alcohol, sex and drugs.

WEDNESDAY, NOVEMBER 1

Locked In : An unhappy newlywed, Lina, clashes with her mother-in-law, Katherine. Following a fleeting affair, Lina finds herself embroiled in a plot that seems to want to destroy her.

The mysteries of faith : Offering a unique look at holy places around the world, the documentary The Mysteries of Faith delves into the secrets of Christianity’s most legendary treasures.

THURSDAY, NOVEMBER 2

All the light we can’t see : Inspired by the Pulitzer Prize-winning novel, All the Light We Cannot See is a miniseries that follows Marie-Laure, a young blind girl, and her father as they flee Paris under German occupation, taking with them a legendary diamond to prevent it from falling into the hands of the Nazis. Relentlessly pursued by a pitiful Gestapo officer who seeks to seize the stone, they find refuge in Saint-Malo.

Onimusha : Set in the early Edo period, as wars come to an end and Japan enters an era of peace, the story follows an aging Musashi who receives a secret mission. Armed with a legendary gauntlet, Musashi sets out on a hunt for demons.

Life on our planet : This documentary series produced by Steven Spielberg and narrated by Morgan Freeman is a little gem, especially for the eyes. The “Our Planet” team tells the incredible story of life on Earth over the past four billion years.
