Nintendo is preparing to launch a new Switch with an OLED display. The special edition is primarily aimed at fans of the game Splatoon, but should also be well received by other gamers because of its colorfulness. However, it is not a Nintendo Switch Pro, as a video confirms.
Nintendo Switch: Splatoon variant is coming
Nintendo has announced a new Switch with an OLED display. However, this will only differ externally from the existing model. It is a special edition, as it was already available for the games Animal Crossing and Diablo 3 in the past. Now it’s Splatoon’s turnjust in time for the Splatoon 3 Switch exclusive launch on September 9th.
As befits a colorful shooter for a console, the upcoming Nintendo Switch is much more colourful. This can be seen especially with the Joy-Cons, which each have different color gradients. The back of the special edition, on the other hand, is in shades of gray, with patterns and symbols from Splatoon 3 dominating here (source: Nintendo on YouTube).
After the official announcement by Nintendo, it is also clear that the upcoming Rumors about a possible Switch Pro once again the wind was taken out of the sails. Quite a few Switch owners now wish for a better equipped Pro version of the portable Nintendo console. Only the manufacturer himself knows whether there will be a Switch Pro.

Nintendo: Splatoon Switch coming August 26th
Nintendo wants the Splatoon variant from August 26, 2022 go on sale, around two weeks before the launch of Splatoon 3. Nintendo’s marketing material indicates that the game itself has to be purchased separately. So fans of Splatoon won’t get to the third part of the series sooner if they get the Splatoon Edition.
