New one-piece series: Netflix finally shows the fantastic pirate ship


Production of the live-action adaptation of One Piece is in full swing at Netflix. Now the streaming service allows fans to take a look at the elaborately designed set with a video.

One Piece: Filming will probably be completed soon

Mangaka Eiichiro Oda touched fans’ hearts with the One Piece brand many years ago, and now he will the great fantasy adventure of the straw hat gang around Monkey D. Luffy becomes reality.

Filming on the live-action adaptation of One Piece began in January and is expected to continue until mid-July. Not only the actors play a big role in this production – Netflix has on the set proverbially not spilled, but padded This is a look behind the scenes with actor Iñaki Godoy and showrunners Steven Maeda and Matt Owens.

Plenty of wood, rope and paint were used to recreate houses, jetties, the Baratie restaurant-bar and, above all, the pirate ship. Since Oda is involved in the adaptation himself as a producer, he is certainly involved in the infatuation with the details.

There is no exact start date for the series yet. Since the shooting has not yet been completed and post-production will follow afterwards, the adaptation is finished probably not before 2023 to reckon with. Fans can look forward to ten episodes in the first season.

One-piece manga paused

While Eiichiro Oda is involved in the live-action adaptation, that doesn’t mean the manga series is neglected – there should be a break.

On the official Twitter account, the mangaka announced that the manga will be on hiatus from June 27th to July 25th, 2022. The latest chapter will therefore appear in the 34th issue of Weekly Shōnen Jump.
