In France, the Opel Corsa leads a career in the shadow of its technical cousin, the Peugeot e-208. However, it is the German that Stellantis chose to restyle first, before the e-208 which should be entitled to its restyling this same year, after the recently restyled e-2008.

The Opel Corsa Electric should also provide some answers on the restyling of the French city car, but in the meantime, it’s the Corsa that is talking about it with some welcome changes and a much more mature style.

More mature and above all more technological

While retaining its dimensions, namely 4.06 meters long, 1.76 meters wide and 1.43 meters high, the Opel Corsa Electric adopts a new look with the “Opel Vizor” front end. We thus find a wide black band that integrates with the grille, LED headlights and the brand logo.

This type of front end has been democratized across the entire Opel range, and in particular on the new Opel Astra Electric. The car receives new adaptive lights and new Intelli-Lux LED high beams with 14 LED elements instead of 8 previously.

The air intakes in the lower part of the shield are larger, while at the rear we find a lettering with the name of the model that extends over the width of the trunk. The Opel Corsa receives a new color “Gris Grafik”, available for the first time on the Corsa and new rims.

Inside, the changes are also noticeable with the correction of an important element that had bothered us during the test of the previous version: the infotainment system. Opel is done with the two small 7-inch screens, making way for two 10-inch screens for the instrument cluster and the infotainment system based on Qualcomm’s Snapdragon Cockpit chip found in powerful smartphones.

The navigation system, connected services and “Hey Opel” voice recognition are included, as well as the possibility of receiving updates “ over the air (OTA). Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are also available.

In terms of aids and driving assistance, the Opel Corsa-e is one of the best students in the category and even adds a layer with a new high-resolution panoramic reversing camera. In terms of driving assistance, we find adaptive cruise control, collision warning with emergency braking and the Flank Guard side protection system.

The Opel Corsa Electric exceeds 400 km of autonomy

On the program of engines, there is something new. In addition to the two micro-hybrid thermal versions of 100 and 136 hp, the Opel Corsa no longer receives one, but two 100% electric variants.

Unlike the new Peugeot e-2008 with which the Corsa shares many elements, the Opel retains the old version of 136 hp supported by a battery of 50 kWh (46.2 useful kWh) giving it autonomy 357km according to the WLTP cycle. This will be the entry-level version of the Corsa Electric, allowing you to display a ” from ” interesting.

The Opel Corsa Electric also receives the new Stellantis battery and electric motor. Battery capacity increased from 50 to 54 kWh grossan increase from 46.2 to 51 kWh net. This makes it possible to do a hell of a good job in terms of autonomy since it goes to 402 km range. The electric motor climbs from 136 to 156 hp.

The German electric city car has a 7.4 kW on-board AC charger allowing the battery to be recharged from 20 to 80% in 4 hours and 40 minutes. Customers can also opt for an optional 11 kW three-phase charger. The maximum charging power on a direct current (DC) terminal is always blocked at 100kWallowing you to go from 20 to 80% in 30 minutes.

Opel has not yet given information regarding French prices. We imagine the basic version with the 136 hp engine at around 34,000 euros, excluding bonuses. The 156 hp version could flirt with 38,000 euros, excluding bonuses.
