“New pathologies have appeared”: Claude Guéant hospitalized in emergency

His client, Claude Guéant, was Minister of the Interior, Overseas Territories, Local Authorities and Immigration for a year, from 2011 to 2012, in the government of François Fillon. He also stayed very close to the former President of the Republic Nicolas Sarkozy who had previously offered him the post of Secretary General of the Presidency of the French Republic from 2007 to 2011.

If Claude Guéant was admitted urgently to the hospital, the fact remains charged in an investigation into the fraudulent reimbursement of his legislative campaign expenses in 2012. The 77-year-old friend of Nicolas Sarkozy faces up to five years in prison and a fine of 375,000 euros. Claude Guéant must also appear in court to answer for the “illicit financing” of his campaign. After his release from prison last Wednesday, the former minister does not seem to be in a sufficiently good state of health to attend his trial for two days.
