New plant manager – BMW revealed the secret of the chief question in Steyr

BMW kept it a secret until the very end as to who would succeed Alexander Susanek as head of the Steyr plant – now the cards are on the table: Klaus von Moltke is now responsible for around 4,400 employees at the Upper Austria site.

Because Alexander Susanek was promoted to head of global engine and electric drive production at BMW after less than two years in Steyr, the replacement for the Steyr plant had become necessary. And here the vehicle manufacturer made use of a man who has been with the company since 1998: Klaus von Moltke.Von Moltke started out as a process planner in the area of vehicle assembly at BMW and was ultimately responsible for the design of production concepts for mid-range and upper-class models worldwide. Von Moltke, who was born in Venezuela, has been head of the Steyr plant since November.Commuting between Munich and Steyr“In the production network, the Steyr plant stands for the highest level of competence. I am very happy to be able to be part of this road to success,” says von Moltke, who commutes between Steyr and Munich. At the plant in Upper Austria, the course is currently being set for the start of production of electric drives. Pre-series production is scheduled to start in 2024.
