New public transport offensive – “every half hour” to the state capital

Step by step, traffic planning in and around St. Pölten is becoming known: Now the course is being set for bus traffic. What is planned in detail and what role call shared taxis should play in future in St. Pölten, but also in Krems.

The S-Bahn package with around 150 new train connections to and from St. Pölten was only recently presented, and now the double pack of Transport Provincial Councilor Ludwig Schleritzko and Federal and Municipal Councilor Florian Krumböck have struck again. Today, Friday, they invite you to a big public talk – the “Krone” already knows the first details.Taxi on demand and via appThe focus is on the offer on the street. “The aim is that people in the district do not have to wait longer than 30 minutes for public transport to St. Pölten,” says Krumböck. However, there will not be a real half-hourly cycle for all buses; rather, call-collective taxis should fill the gaps, especially outside of peak times. This should be made possible by so-called integrated tenders for the bus system in the coming years. “Line services and demand-driven offers are planned together to improve public transport in all towns in the district,” explains Schleritzko. This also requires joint planning between the city and the surrounding region. Not only in scheduling for the contractual partners, but primarily for the customers. The registration of the individual travel request takes place via app. Tenders in the criticismInefficient, environmentally harmful, inhumane: The Vida union does not leave a good hair on the bus tenders of the Eastern Region Transport Association. On December 16, parties, municipalities and affected companies are therefore invited to a congress in the Chamber of Labor in St. Pölten. “The social and quality criteria relating to public bus transport must be increased,” according to state chairman Horst Pammer. Once again, the Egelsee district lives up to its reputation as the town’s poor child. The urban Kremser are happy that the city bus in Krems can be used free of charge on Advent Saturdays. At the weekend, the only public alternative to the car available to the people of Egelsee is the fee-based call shared taxi service. That is exactly what the ÖVP local group now wants to change. “Young people and senior citizens from Egelsee would benefit from the free call collection taxi on Advent Saturdays and on December 8th,” said City Councilor Bernadette Laister and City Councilor Andreas Ettenauer. And they speak to the soul of the residents – like Maria Auer (73). Because shopping in the city center is difficult for the pensioner without a car: “Especially in times like these, a free public transport line in Advent would help a lot to get gifts in the old town of Krems,” she wishes for a free offerSPÖ with a New Year’s resolution at least The shared taxi costs five euros per trip, so the Egelseers get a lot of money for the outward and return journey. “This is unequal treatment for the Egelsee district,” emphasize Laister and Ettenauer. The “Krone” asked SPÖ transport councilor Peter Molnar. He explains: “The Christmas campaign is only limited to the city bus, because the shared taxis are advertised separately.” But he wants to take the idea with him for next year.
