In his opening win at Queen’s, Milos Raonic hit 47 aces, more than anyone else in a best-of-3 match.

Milos Raonic needed 2 hours and 15 minutes to beat local Cameron Norrie (ATP 39) 6:7 (6:8), 6:3, 7:6 (11:9) in the first round of the grass tournament at London’s Queen’s Club. Even more impressive are the 47 aces he served: on average, the Canadian managed one every three minutes.

Until now, the Croatian Ivo Karlovic held the record for a best-of-3 match. In 2015, he hit 45 aces against Tomas Berdych in Halle. “The serve has always been my most important shot. This record is really special,” Raonic told the ATP. The now 33-year-old is currently ranked 186th in the world rankings after numerous injuries.

Once in the final at Wimbledon

He once celebrated his greatest successes on grass: in 2016, he reached the final at Wimbledon after beating Roger Federer, but was defeated by Andy Murray. Raonic skipped the clay season this year. Last week, he made it to the quarterfinals in ‘s-Hertogenbosch.
