New recruits – Army celebrates 60 years of Salzburg Military Command

On Wednesday, Salzburg’s old town was dominated by the Austrian Armed Forces. The reason: the celebratory 60th anniversary of the Salzburg military command including the swearing in of new recruits.

The 60 years of military command in Salzburg had to be celebrated with dignity at the Residenzplatz in the old town. At a military exhibition, equipment and personnel could be viewed up close. The Salzburg Military Music ensured appropriate musical homage with a standing concert before the swearing-in of new recruits took place under the eyes of Defense Minister Klaudia Tanner. 281 soldiers, including six women, were sworn in in front of the cathedral. The big tattoo by military music finally ended the ceremony in the early evening.
