New “Saint-Denis meeting”: Éric Ciotti declines Macron’s invitation

Éric Ciotti announced that he would refuse to attend the new meeting organized by Emmanuel Macron with all the party leaders next Friday. The head of the Republicans partly justifies his refusal by the absence of the President of the Republic at the march against anti-Semitism.

“I will not be present in Saint-Denis”: the president of the Republicans, Éric Ciotti, finally gave up going on Friday to the new “Meeting” organized by Emmanuel Macron with all the party leaders.

In an interview with Le Figaro, the boss of the right-wing party criticizes “yet another communication approach”. After participating in the first meeting in August, the president of LR had until then suggested that he would repeat the experience.

“As a matter of principle, I am not hostile to debate”

“Rather yes”, he replied again last week about his participation, arguing that “in principle, I am not hostile to the debate”. But, he now highlights, “the absence of the President of the Republic on Sunday at the demonstration against anti-Semitism finally convinced (him) not to participate.”

Eric Ciotti’s refusal adds to those pronounced by the bosses of LFI, Manuel Bompard, and of the PS, Olivier Faure. Emmanuel Macron brought together, without exception, all the party leaders represented in parliament in August.
