Samsung wants to enter the smart ring business with the Galaxy Ring 2024. A Xiaomi brand is now following suit and announcing a smart ring whose battery life is surprising.

Later this year, Samsung plans to launch the Galaxy Ring, a smart ring as an alternative to fitness trackers and smartwatches. According to media reports, it should offer a battery life of up to 9 days. Competitor Xiaomi does not yet have a corresponding wearable on offer, but the Black Shark brand, which is supported by Xiaomi and actually specializes in gaming products, does. This is now also announcing a smart ring in China, which is supposed to score points above all with its battery life.
Black Shark promises that the smart ring will last up to 180 days. This would mean that the model would exceed the battery life of the Galaxy Ring by 20 times. But be careful! The information only applies in conjunction with the associated case, in which the ring can be charged in a similar way to in-ear headphones. Samsung’s statement, however, refers to the battery life of the ring alone; the South Korean manufacturer has not yet provided any information about the case.
180 days battery life, but only with case
The Black Shark Ring is said to be able to measure, among other things, your pulse, blood oxygen level and even your body temperature. According to the manufacturer, it is 2.2 millimeters thick and available in silver, black and red. Apparently it also has a touch surface on the outside, but the manufacturer has not yet revealed any details.
However, the wearable called Black Shark Magic Ring should be available at least in China from April 16th. The recommended retail price is 599 yuan, the equivalent of around 80 euros. It remains to be seen whether the ring will also be officially offered in this country.
