New servers, no migration: Lost Ark deploys its response to queues in Europe

Lost Ark is adapting its gaming infrastructure in Europe to absorb the heavy traffic. Several additional servers are opening.

Lost Ark is available for everyone since February 11. This video game from South Korea, which mixes a gaming experience halfway between MMORPG and A-RPG like Diablo, however, had a complicated start in Europe. The great success of the game means that it suffers from too many crowds, which generates endless queues. But that could change.

New region for Lost Ark: Western Europe

A new game region for Lost Ark is available at European level. It is called “Western Europe” and comes in addition to that in place since the launch of the video game, on February 11 (or 8 for people who have acquired a Founder’s pack). This new region was set up to respond to the peaks in traffic experienced by the game since that date.

Since February 11, access to Lost Ark proves to be a real ordeal for those wishing to play in the evening or during the weekend. The queues to connect are excessively long and sometimes require two to three hours of patience before taking control of your character. The arrival of the “Western Europe” region was announced on February 13.

How many new European servers?

The “Western Europe” region starts with eight servers: Moonkeep, Petrania, Punika, Rethramis, Shadespire, Stonehearth, Tortoyk and Tragon. Amazon Games Studios, which publishes the game in the West, indicates that additional servers can be added if the traffic fails to be absorbed with these new installations.

On the side of the “Central Europe” region, the region still has nineteen servers: Antares, Asta, Beatrice, Brelshaza, Calvasus, Inanna, Kadan, Mokoko, Neria, Nineveh, Procyon, Thaemine, Thirain, Trixion, Sceptrum, Sirius , Slen, Wei and Zinnervale. The French community is mainly present on Trixion, but also Asta, Calvasus, Neria, Slen and Zinnervia.

The “Western Europe” region being very recent, it is not yet clear if the French community will favor a particular server among the eight that were announced on February 17th. No doubt the situation will become clearer as the reference sites carry out consultations with the community, or as the influencers of Twitch give the tone.

When will the new Lost Ark servers open?

The new region is already referenced in the game, but it does not yet list any servers. According to Amazon Games Studios, the servers will be open from 6 p.m. (Paris time) on February 17, 2022. Provided that this start-up does not experience the same inconveniences as during the official release of the game, which does not could not be secured at the appointed time.

A maintenance has taken place on the morning of February 17, for a period of almost three hours. This one is finished. It was about preparing for the arrival of the new European region, has indicated the game’s official Twitter account. As previously indicated, other servers may open, if attendance is not stabilized.

Can you migrate your character to Lost Ark?

No announcement allowing to migrate from one server to another, either within the same European region, or from one European region to another, has been announced. This means that people who would like to go to other servers should take a character from the beginning. However, Lost Ark plans to make their lives easier, if necessary.

In the event that you decide to move to the new region, you will retain access to your royal crystals and your crystalline aura, but the items acquired via the store or recovered via a pack will not travel with you. The launch celebration gift we announced will be awarded to all players (regardless of server or region) “, is it explained.

Furthermore, ” players deciding to play in the Western Europe region will be offered progression support “, says the publisher: the login bonuses that have been distributed since the game’s release will be offered to all characters created in the Western Europe region – they will also have additional login bonuses for 10 days.

What about queues in Lost Ark?

For servers in the Western Europe region, the situation should be significantly better than what is happening on the Central European side. This is what Amazon Games Studios predicts: Players who choose to join the new Western Europe region will most likely have much lower queue times. »

And for the Central Europe region? This is the great unknown. Everything will depend on the extent of the migration of players from one region to another. However, Lost Ark wants to be optimistic and cautious in its predictions: “ Opening a new region will reduce queues in the Central Europe region, but not completely remove them. »
