An American scientist has named a newly discovered centipede species after singer Taylor Swift – he’s a big fan.

Unusual honor for Taylor Swift (32): A newly discovered centipede has been named after the singer. A scientist from the University of Virginia Tech in the east of the USA discovered the previously unknown species and, as a fan of Taylor Swift, named it after the pop star: “Nannaria swiftae” is the official Latin name for the little animal, which is about 22 centimeters long.

The scientist and Swift fan named Derek Hennen writes on Twitter for a photo of the ‘new’ centipede: “This new centipede species is Nannaria Swiftae: I named her after Taylor Swift! I’m a huge fan of her music, so I wanted to show my appreciation by naming a new species from Tennessee after her. A great honor!”

According to the article in the Trade journal “ZooKeys” Swift Twisted-Claw Millipede.

A centipede for woman’s patience

Not only Swift can look forward to a new namesake. The scientist also dedicated an animal to his wife. He describes it on Twitterthat he had fun finding names for the new species. Captioning the photo of another centipede, he wrote: “Here’s one I named after my wife: Nannaria Marianae! A little thank you for all her patience when we were out hiking in nature and I stopped to look for centipedes keep.”
