After a few months of beta, the new version of the mobile application Steam is available for everyone on Android and iOS.

And there are many changes and improvements to note.

An application that finally embraces modernity

It would be an understatement to say that until today the Steam mobile app was lagging behind. Cumbersome, incomplete and poorly maintained by Valve, the solution for interacting with the dematerialized game store could be greatly improved. But the developer has finally decided to act.

Still free and available on iOS (App Store) and Android (Play Store or APK), Steam on mobile has completely revised its interface and even its infrastructure. Enough to take advantage of better performance to browse the game store and consult its own toy library and related elements (guides, discussions, etc.). In addition, it is now possible to install games and updates remotely on your computer from your mobile device, as offered by console manufacturers.

A simplified and always secure connection

Steam Guard, Valve’s two-factor authentication system, is of course still there. A new QR code connection system is there to accompany the classic password system. The application is also still used to confirm exchanges with other users (objects, cards, etc.), while an improved notification system has been added. For example, they let you know when a game on your wishlist is on sale.

Finally, Valve took advantage of the update to its main mobile application to also fix some bugs in the Steam Chat application on Android. This new version will arrive very soon on iOS. In addition, for the future it is planned to add QR code connection to the Steam Deck, new notifications will be offered, and a list of authorized devices from the Steam client and browsers will be included.

Steam

  • An essential service for any PC gamer
  • A pleasant social network side
  • Voice chat that does the job

Steam is unquestionably one of the must-have software for any PC gamer. A leader in the field of the sale of dematerialized games, the Valve platform also allows its users to take advantage of features that have become inherent in the practice of online video games, including voice and text chat. In other words, Steam allows everything to be combined in one software: the social aspect and communication between friends, but also the direct proxy of the games. An all-in-one that has been successful at Valve for almost a decade.
