RTL will continue the program “New Stories from Pumuckl” with a second season. The private broadcaster announced this today.

“New Stories from Pumuckl” is also getting a second season on RTL and its streaming service RTL+. This was confirmed by the Cologne private broadcaster to the media magazine “DWDL”. “We are currently preparing for a second season,” said RTL program managing director Inga Leschek. The new edition of the popular children’s series “Master Eder and his Pumuckl” from the 1980s had become a complete success for RTL at the end of 2023.

Then season two of “New Stories from Pumuckl” will be released.

But before 2025, all Pumuckl fans shouldn’t prepare for new stories from their favorite goblin. Because the production of the partly animated series is “complicated, the fans will have to be patient,” said the RTL manager.

The program “New Stories from Pumuckl” started on RTL+’s streaming service on December 11, 2023, after the first three episodes were shown in selected cinemas. 570,000 people didn’t want to miss out on the nostalgic fun in the cinema. The broadcast on the linear RTL program also achieved a market share of up to 18.5 percent in the particularly advertising-relevant target group of 14 to 49 year olds, so today’s announcement of a second season is not surprising.

In “New Stories from Pumuckl”, Florian Eder, played by Florian Brückner (40), the nephew of the late master Eder, buys his old workshop in Munich. There he meets the goblin Pumuckl, who is voiced by actor and cabaret artist Maxi Schafroth (39).

On the streaming service RTL+, viewers can choose between two voice versions. In addition to Schafroth’s original, there is also a version edited using artificial intelligence that is supposed to sound like the original Pumuckl speaker Hans Clarin (1929-2005), who died in 2005. “New Stories from Pumuckl” is nominated for a Grimme Prize in the “Children & Youth” category. This year’s winners are scheduled to be announced on March 14, 2024.
