New VCT format: Riot reveals all the info for 2023

Riot Games has unveiled all the information for the new VALORANT Champions Tour 2023 format. It had been announced for a few months: changes were expected for the new international competition on Riot’s multiplayer game. New leagues, new events and new partners are announced.

The season will start with the Invitational, in Sao Paulo, Brazil for three weeks, including the 30 franchise teams and partners from Europe, America and Asia (10 per region). This tournament will replace the first split which was to take place, in order to ensure a smooth transition, and the winner will receive a place for the Masters. Then, from March, the three international leagues will have 8 weeks to impose themselves and also recover a place for the Masters in the three finals in May.

The Masters will be organized in June with the best teams. The winners will this time have a place for the Champions 2023. There will also be a Last Chance Qualifier in July to unlock the last tickets.

Three Ascension tournaments to join the best

During this time, three new Ascension tournaments will take place in each region in July. Three tournaments which will be made up of the best teams from the twenty Challengers leagues, from the two Challengers Split between January and June. The winners will have a chance to move up in the international league.

Finally, the Champions will mark the end of the esports year on VALORANT, at the end of August and the beginning of September. The sixteen best teams of the season will compete for the title of world champion.

In 2023, teams from international leagues will play in LAN in Los Angeles, Berlin or Seoul depending on the region. From 2024 each season will then consist of two segments.

From 2024, each season will consist of two segments. As for 2023, the season will consist of only one segment, followed by our biggest international tournament bringing together all the partner teams. The matches of the international leagues will oppose the best players in LAN and will be broadcast live, week after week.

Finally, note the parallel return of Game Changers in 2023a competition dedicated to women’s teams in VALORANT, with a title of champion of the season at stake.

The VCT Game Changers are a parallel program to the competitive season of VALORANT whose goal is to create new opportunities and give more visibility to women in the community. The regional events that provide access to the world championship will return in 2023. We hope the Game Changers will help lay the foundation for a more inclusive and representative VALORANT Champions Tour for all of our players.
