Asus ROG has renewed its entire Flow range. It’s a line of laptops that just don’t look like laptops.

Asus’ ROG brand, which stands for Republic of Gamers, includes all products intended for gaming. However, there are some exceptions, such as products that fall between two categories. This is the Flow range.

The Flow X13, ultra versatility

On its own, the Flow X13 is an ultra-versatile product. It is a productivity machine, which we were able to test last year. For CES 2023, the X13 benefits from new components.

Indeed, the ROG Flow X13 (2023), code name GV302, is equipped with the brand new CPU AMD Ryzen R9based on the Zen 4 core architecture. It also incorporates a dedicated GPU, the GPU GeForce RTX 4070 for laptop. It can also use up to 32 GB of 6400 MHz LPDDR5 RAM. It also has up to 2 TB of SSD in PCIe 4.0, which you can replace if necessary.

The particularity of the Flow X13 is to be a 2-in-1 in an ultraportable format. But, Asus isn’t selling it that way: it’s selling it as an ultraportable gaming laptop and bundling it with an external GPU dock called the XG Mobile (this time featuring the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4090 notebook GPU).

Asus ROG has not only updated the interior of the machine, the Taiwanese manufacturer has evolved its concept. The chassis of the ROG Flow X13 2023 has undergone a complete redesign, to reduce its footprint by 10 mm while retaining the 15-inch keyboard layout and increasing battery capacity from 62 to 75 Wh.

The hinge has been redesigned to allow better access to fresh air, in addition to the addition of a texture to the hood that adds grip for easier transport.

The IR camera is in Full HD definition with support for Windows Hello and the touchpad is even larger than the previous model.

Finally, and this is a big change, the IPS LCD touch screen (stylus compatible) is now in QHD definition, in 165 Hz with Corning Gorilla Glass DXC treatment, installed on a 360° hinge. So that makes it a convertible. The screen is still 16:10 which is a good thing (less scrolling).

ROG Flow X13 will be available in Q1 2023 from 1,499 euros.

Flow Z13 and Flow X16 also renewed

The ROG Flow Z13 is another PC with a different format. While the X13 has a 180 degree hinge, the Z13 can detach from its keyboard. It’s the equivalent of Microsoft’s Surface Pro. We had already tested the 2022 formula, it was updated at CES 2023.

This year, the GPU switches to an Nvidia GeForce RTX 4060 laptop graphics card, whose TGP can reach 65 W. Asus ROG talks about 62% more performance compared to the previous generation. It also has a dedicated Switch MUX and Nvidia Advanced Optimus.

Finally, it incorporates a 13-inch Nebula screen in QHD definition with a refresh rate of up to 165 Hz.

Finally, the ROG Flow X16 (GV601), also tested last year, benefits from the new Intel Core i9 13900H processor and an Nvidia GeForce RTX 4070 laptop GPU with a MUX Switch and Nvidia Advanced Optimus. Its Nebula HDR Mini LED touchscreen is also improved, with 1100 nits of peak brightness and up to 240Hz refresh rate.
