Even if an official announcement of FF9 Remake unfortunately still seems far away, new leaks suggest reassuring news for fans of all stripes.
Since Square Enix is not one of the partners of Summer Game Fest 2024, it seems unlikely that FF9 Remake will be part of the party. The renowned leaker Midori, however, continues to share information about him, the latest of which is rather encouraging.
Square Enix multi-supports FF9 Remake at a good pace
We’ve been hearing about FF9 Remake for several months via leaks and rumors. Midori adds a layer with new revelations. According to the renowned leaker regarding Japanese studios like ATLUS, SEGA or Square Enix, its development is already well advanced. This would initially have been delayed because it was first produced by an external studio. The Japanese giant, however, did not seem satisfied with the result and would have taken matters in hand personally.
Since this return to the parent company, the development of FF9 Remake is therefore progressing well and at its own pace, and could thus be released, according to Midori, before the end of the current fiscal year. This means a potential return in better shape than ever for Zidane, Vivi and all the others by March 2025. The leaker, however, wants to be cautious in his statements. Let us also remember that this next opus could be multi-platform. Square Enix recently indicated that it wanted to break away from its exclusive partnership with PlayStation to improve its profits and the greater pleasure of all players.
In this regard, the Japanese giant could actually make an appearance through an intermediary during the Xbox Showcase. The Microsoft conference should indeed share new information on games published/developed by Square Enix. Will FF9 Remake be, against all expectations, presented on the evening of June 9? This seems unlikely at the moment, but we will know for certain in just a few days. Same observation for fans desperately waiting for news of a certain Kingdom Hearts 4.
