New World: A Mysterious Event Has Appeared at the Great Rift

Within the Great Rift on New World, a strange event is happening. Without warning, it is possible to start a series of high level quests, with a level 65 boss: Commander Thorpe. The developers have not communicated on this addition and does not seem to be finished. In this article, we explain how to achieve this and why it seems totally incomplete.

Meet Commander Thorpe at the Great Rift

Fair north of the Treacherous Rift at the Great Rift, within an altered camp, a strange series of quests will be activated. The latter is not correctly “translated”, because it is the lines of code of the game – the players of the beta, but especially of the alpha will recognize them among many others. So you’re going to have to kill altered, which like the name of the quest, has a name based on a line of code (@9901_0036_masterofthetempest_solo_title to give you an example).

There will be an intermission between each quest and suddenly, the wait will be much longer: a good minute to prepare for an unprecedented confrontation. After the timer runs out, an Alteration Rift will appear and Thorpe, under the rank of Commander and not Captain, will be facing you.

New World

He will have to be defeated, but a group of 5 people will not be enough to bring him down; in effect it is better to go there with 10 in order to avoid the massacre. Once the antagonist is shot, he will tell you that he will give you a taste of his cannon and that he is not done with you. With some disappointment, nothing; the environment which had become disturbing resumes its usual colors and luckily a small bag of loot will be on Thorpe’s remains.

The loots are for the moment uninterestingbecause it’s very nice the Potions of regeneration and an honorary title, but we expected much more. Except that after reflection, it could be that this addition was an unfortunate mistake and that much more is to be discovered. Indeed, the monsters as well as the object of the quest have the word “Tempest”, which is directly part of the name of Isabella’s next dungeon in English.

Therefore, it seems logical that this is an unexpected addition and that much more remains to be discovered. At least, we hope so.

Other similar events on New World

Similar events are possible to be found on New World. Within the Falaise-du-Roy region, it is possible to participate in such an event, but with wolves. This is a low-level event, which would be of very little interest to current players. But a secret covers Nescale Reach with a Maiden hiding not far from the Serenity teleport point.

Indeed, after killing a specific number of monsters, which are always in the same places, the Maiden of Serenity will deign to show itself to you. Its loot table is not terrible and is especially useful for obtaining an obsidian gypsum.

Who would have thought that a secret was hidden within the Reach of Nerécailles? Thanks to a discovery made by EarthlingKira, one of the mysteries of this region has been uncovered on New World. In this article, we explain how to achieve this.

The arrival of permanent world events on New World

This discovery is surely a surprise that can be expected with the arrival of permanent world events. On the March PTR patch notethe developers have announced the arrival of unusual adversaries for all levels.

In fact, a certain man named Rafflebnes the Loot (sorry, the French names are not given yet), will appear all around the map at different levels in each territory. When players encounter Rafflebones, they have 45 seconds to kill him for rewards or he runs away! Players will always receive a named weapon. Additionally, level 60 players will receive an Obsidian Gypsum if they kill him regardless of his level. Level 60 players will also receive 500 Shadow Shards when finding Rafflebones in areas above level 60.

In addition, small low level monsters (30 to 45) will also be available in game, we have the hunter stinky which will drop 3 named items, the Yeti which will also bring notable rewards, a new treasure to be collected from Benjamin and a new boss named Andrometus.

The developers of New World finally seem to be exploiting the open world in the right way by adding permanent events to it, in addition to incorporating temporary events similar to Turkulon, the giant turkey that lays explosive eggs.

The New World teams had promised to be much more transparent by proposing a roadmap to present the future of their MMO. Something promised, something due, because the roadmap is finally out and new arrivals are expected.
