Even if we are not celebrating the New Year in a luxury restaurant or hip club, we can still be out and about in style – at home and stunning.
There is no fireworks and no party on December 31, 2020. However, that does not mean that the outfit must not pop. After all, we've practically been wearing nothing else since March than the boring home office outfit, consisting of joggers, complemented by woolen slippers since winter. This is not only dreary, it does not spread any glamor for 2021.
The sequin dress may be a bit over the top, but fashion houses such as Bottega Veneta, Etro or Giambattista Valli have not included the sparkling eye-catchers in their fall / winter 2020/2021 collections for nothing. Alternatively, women can also opt for a slip dress that is traditionally a bit more minimalistic.
If you like, you can give the whole thing more pep with a sequin jacket. Like Penélope Cruz (46, "Vicky Cristina Barcelona"), who combined a shimmering jacket with a black tulle skirt on the occasion of the Feroz Awards. Highlights are the button placket and patch pockets, which stand out with black sequins – stylish and comfortable.
Don't skimp on makeup
The makeup should pick up on the sparkling look, but not drown it out. The classic for New Year's Eve are Smokey Eyes. To make them last longer, a primer should first be applied to the eyelids before the eyeshadow follows in the next step. The look is particularly seductive with shimmering or metallic eyeshadow in silver – warm brown tones are now very popular.
Instead of the eyes, the lips can also be the focus of New Year's make-up. In addition to classic red, dark berry tones are extremely elegant, but how does the color last the whole evening? It is best to first pamper your lips with a peeling and then apply a nourishing lip balm so that the lips are velvety soft. Then apply the paint precisely with a brush and press a cosmetic tissue between the lips to remove excess paint. Then apply a second coat of paint.
We may be spatially separated, for example we stay connected to each other on New Year's Eve via video chat. So nothing stands in the way of a small but nice online party. And it is all the nicer when you cut a good figure (virtually) surrounded by family or friends.
