Big New Year's Eve parties are not possible in 2020. Instead, there are numerous events that are broadcast over the Internet or on TV.

Like so many other things, New Year's Eve in the Corona year 2020 will not take place as usual. Big parties are taboo, but there are numerous alternatives on television and on the Internet – many of them with celebrity guests. Here is a selection of shows and appearances that the audience can expect.

Kerner and Pilawa wish you a happy new year

The prerecorded "New Year's Eve Show with Jörg Pilawa" will ensure a happy new year in the first from 8:15 pm. At Pilawa's (55) side, Francine Jordi (43) leads through an evening full of music with artists such as DJ Ötzi (49), Beatrice Egli (32), Vanessa Mai (28), Marianne Rosenberg (65) and bands like Santiano and Glasperlenspiel .

The big New Year's Eve countdown with Andrea Kiewel (55) and Johannes B. Kerner (56) can be seen live from Berlin on ZDF from 9:45 p.m. in "Willkommen 2021". This year, however, no audience will gather in front of the Brandenburg Gate. There are show acts like Karat, die Höhner, Alvaro Soler (29), Luca Hänni (26) and Jürgen Drews (75) with daughter Joelina (25). Many other celebrities should also be switched on.

From the world DJ to the international megastar

Star DJ David Guetta (53, "Titanium") will perform in front of the glass pyramid of the Louvre in Paris from midnight. Under the motto "United At Home", there will be a live stream on the internet that will also collect donations. It can be assumed that the music producer and DJ will be playing some of his greatest hits.

If you want to be there live in Times Square in New York, you can also tune in via the Internet stream. There the clock strikes midnight at 6:00 a.m. German time. Planned appearances by Jennifer Lopez (51), rapper Machine Gun Kelly (30), his colleague Pitbull (39), disco legend Gloria Gaynor (77), "Girl's Just Want to Have Fun" singer Cyndi Lauper (67) and Andra Day (36).

YouTube is also celebrating the New Year with performances by many stars. The stream, which should start at 11:30 p.m. German time, will include the singers Dua Lipa (25) and Anne-Marie (29), as well as model and actress Naomi Campbell (50). "Special guests" are also promised.

From 4:15 a.m., Justin Bieber will give his first live concert since 2017 to ring in the new year. Access to the stream is available for a little less than 24 euros. The rockers from Kiss will say goodbye in 2020 from 6:00 p.m. in Dubai. A standard ticket for the live stream costs at least around 40 US dollars.
