If you’re missing the Dark Knight, don’t worry: this series about one of Batman’s sworn enemies is coming very soon… and we’re also getting a brand new trailer.
If the word “penguin” reminds you of cute animals that slide on their stomachs, well, in the Batman universe, that’s not the case… Firstly because there is no ice floe near Gotham, but above all because “The Penguin” is the nickname of one of the Dark Knight’s WORST enemies. Yes, like the Joker or the Sphynx, Mr. Oswald Cobblepot likes to put obstacles in the way of Bruce Wayne. And since the last Batman film (2022) – directed by Matt Reeves – it is Colin Farrel who, with the help of quite impressive makeup, embodies the role. The actor and his character will soon be back in a dedicated seriesavailable on Max, the HBO streaming platform.
The emperor’s walk
The show in question, soberly called “The Penguin”, sets its scene some time after the events of Matt Reeves’ feature film! Gotham then bears the scars of the confrontation between the Dark Knight (Robert Pattinson) and the Sphynx (Paul Dano) – and dear Oswald Cobblepot intends to take advantage of this to make himself known. After all, it’s now or never: local mob boss Carmine Falcone is dead, so there’s a place to be taken.
Flapping
Except, of course, that will be easier said than done! As we can see in the latest trailer (available above), The Penguin will have to deal with the offspring of the Falcone family, starting with the daughter, Sofia (Cristin Milioti). Can the bad guy just show up and loudly proclaim that the city now belongs to him? You will have to wait until September 2024 on Max to find out. The series is considered a preamble to The Batman 2 (scheduled for October 2023) and will have 8 episodes. The HBO platform has recently been available in France from €5.99 per month (with ads).
