This series could change everything for Star Wars

Earlier this month, the latest trailer for The Acolyte raised questions to which only the biggest fans of the saga Star Wars would be able to respond, particularly regarding the events of the High Republic. Set during this period, the series follows the journey of Grounda Jedi played by Lee Jung-jae (Squid Game), as he investigates mysterious crimes against other Jedi. His journey will lead him to meet a figure from his past, to whom Amanda Stenberg (Hunger Games) lends its features.

With its appearance of an intergalactic thriller, The Acolyte promises not only to explore a period in the history of Star Wars still too little exploited on screen, but above all to bring a breath of fresh air to a genre which has remained unchanged for many years. While some fans do not seem convinced by this new direction, the efforts made by the creator, Leslie Headland (Russian Doll), seem to have borne fruit…

The Acolyte does not leave the press indifferent

An event to celebrate the launch of The Acolyte took place on May 23, 2024 in Los Angeles, welcoming both the stars of the series and the press, and the journalists who were able to attend were full of praise. First impressions abound on the web, and especially on Twitter (or X), where editors give their opinion on the few episodes they have been able to see, two for some, and four for others.

I’ve been waiting for #TheAcolyte for so long, and I can’t believe how much the show is going above and beyond my expectations. I loved the first two episodes! It’s so exciting to see a new (well, old) era explored in live-action. Leslye Headland did an incredible job fleshing out the characters. I’m won over!

While some remain brief, like Jamie Jirak from home Comicbook.com whose lyrics you can read above, others go into more detail, like Perri Nemiroffjournalist at Collider.

I’ve seen four episodes of #TheAcolyte and, so far, it’s a *very* big triumph. The casting, the emphasis on practical effects, the stunts, the way they explore what it means to be a Force user and how the Jedi Order works – it all works pretty well in my opinion.

Amandla Stenberg is the perfect star to tell a story like this. She clearly has what she needs to do, and she transcends the challenge presented to her. I could watch her burst the screen during the fight scenes for hours. The precision and grace with which Mae fights makes the encounters come alive, but also serves to express who she is and how she chooses to act in each moment.

Visibly, The Acolyte was able to reach the audience it was targeting, and if the fans’ opinions follow the preliminary opinions of the press, the new series of the universe Star Wars should be cardboard. All we have to do is wait for the June 5, 2024 to watch the first episodes on Disney+ !
