The Last of Us: three generations of consoles, and a TV series

Released in 2013, remastered on PS4 in 2014, then with a remake In 2023, The Last of Us has made a huge impact on the AAA video game scene. Very narrative, the license showed that Naughty Dog could still offer something else. In a world ravaged by a pandemic linked to a parasitic fungus transforming humans into horrible mutant zombies, the player follows in the footsteps of Joel Miller, a smuggler responsible for transporting young Ellie towards a hospital controlled by the Fireflies, the faction fighting against military power. This involves leaving quarantine zones, and facing many dangers. We quickly understand that humans are as dangerous as the infectedand it is particularly through its narration that the game shines.

His characters are strongvery well embodied, and the environment allowed us to imagine a whole bunch of things on the state of the world and its evolution since the start of the epidemic 20 years ago. We see the relationship between Joel and Ellie evolve throughout the adventure, with their sights set on the possibility of saving humanity. Very quickly, we learn that Ellie is immune to cordyceps, and that studying it could well lead to the creation of a vaccine. The great strength of the game was in particular to show that the gameplay could be used to support a strong narrativeitself staged using rapidly evolving technical means.

In 2020, The Last of Us received a sequel, The Last of Us Part II, in which we find Joel, Ellie, Dina, Jesse, Tommy and a new one, Abby. After the success of the adaptation produced for HBO by Craing Mazin and Neil Druckmann, it was quickly decided to launch production of a second season, adapting the second part of the adventures of Ellie and Joel. Production is expected to begin next month, with broadcast not expected before early 2025, at best. Moreover, it is not said that this second burst of episodes enough to tell the whole story of the second gamelonger, full of flashbacks, and following the steps of two characters.

From Sicario to The Last of Us via Dora the Explorer… The actress playing Dina is known!

From the announcement, we knew that Bella Ramsey will be back in the shoes of Ellie, and that Pedro Pascal will find that of Joel. But very recently, we learned that the role of Abby Anderson, second main character in The Last of Us Part II, was given to Kaitlin Dever (Rosaline, Mentalist, Justified). The actress is well known at Naughty Dog, since she lent her voice to Cassie Drake in Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End and had been approached to play Ellie. We also learned that Jesse, Ellie’s close friend, will be played by Young Mazinorecently seen in Beefawarded at the Golden Globes.

But for a few hours, we know who will play the role of Dina, oh so important in the storyline of The Last of Us Part II. HBO, Naughty Dog and Neil Druckmann have indeed indicated that the role was entrusted to Isabela Moner, also known as Isabela Merced. Exit then Paolina van Kleef, very briefly appeared in the guise of Dina during season 1. As for Isabela Moner, she is far from being unknown in the industry. The American-Peruvian actress has in fact been active for more than 10 years, and we saw her in Transformers: The Last Knight, Sicario, Sweet Girl or Dora and the Lost Citylive action adaptation of Dora the Explorer. We will find it this year in Alien: Romulus by Fede Alvarez, and in 2025 in the DCU reboot, Superman Legacywhere she will play Hawkgirl.
