Culture news Godzilla and King Kong face the most powerful superheroes: the duel is titanic!
Would you like to add a bit of crossover in your crossover? As the film Godzilla X Kong The New Empire approaches, a new comic book will appear where the two monsters will find themselves facing… the Justice League. There will be damage.
Duel at the top
While everyone is still only talking about Godzilla Minus One, the latest film about the giant lizard which won everything and which is even nominated for an Oscar (a first for a feature film in the franchise), the famous kaiju is starting to seriously talk about him for his next appearance: he will team up with King Kong against new threats including Star King, in “Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire”.
A huge blockbuster which is once again part of Warner Bros.’ MonsterVerse, initiated with the film Godzilla by Gareth Edwards (who would also direct the next Jurassic World!) released in 2014: in short, expect big effects specials, large-scale destruction but also a solid marketing campaign. Besidesone of the axes of communication will be to offer a new comic strip which will pit our two iconic monsters against the DC superheroes: this one is called “Justice League VS Godzilla VS Kong” and was announced at ComicCon in San Diego 2023. A promising new crossover
When the Legion of Doom opens a portal to another dimension, Godzilla emerges from the depths of Metropolis in the middle of the wedding of Clark Kent and Lois Lane; King Kong finds himself on Skull Island facing all the rest of the Justice League superheroes. This titanic confrontation is written by Brian Buccellato (who has already scripted a bunch of DC Comics) and laid out by Christan Duce (same, but in drawing). The cover, for its part, comes to us from Drew Johnson with several variations from other renowned designers, including Jim Lee, one of the greatest.
This mini-series is divided into seven volumes, but you can find it in one piece at DC Comics (note that Legendary Comics is also involved in the project) with a release scheduled for July 5, 2024. In total, there are 240 pages, of which here are some promising extracts above.
