More than a year ago, the Marvel Cinematic Universe, which was already not in the best shape, had to deal with an additional problem, namely the private affairs of one of its most important actors. While he was supposed to be the cornerstone of the MCU sequel and the big bad who was to succeed Thanos, Kang, played by Jonathan Majors, was removed from the list. Today, the trial that caused the actor’s downfall and one of the MCU’s crises delivered its final verdict.

An attack that turned Disney and the MCU upside down

It’s not just by opening the doors to the multiverse that Marvel and Disney have put their feet in a real bag of knots. Without knowing it, the casting of the character of Kang the Conqueror will have given them a hard time. Finding an actor who would have strong shoulders was not complicated but what posed problems were the escapades of the one who would lend his features to the big villain of the MCU of Phases 5 and 6, in this case Jonathan Majors. Since last year already, the actor, who we had already seen in the series Loki or even in the beginnings of Phase 5 with the film Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumaniawas in the hot seat.

Pinned and convicted for an assault (in the third degree) and harassment (in the second degree) on Grace Jabbari, one of his former companions, Jonathan Majors forced Disney to review its plans for future film adaptations of its superheroes and, above all, to send him back following the first verdict of justice. Until then, the actor was awaiting the court’s sentence which was initially due to be pronounced in February. It was only very recently, barely a few hours ago, that we learned whether or not Kang’s ex-interpreter would go to prison, as well as the content of his sentence.

A lighter sanction for Jonathan Majors, the ex-Kang of the MCU

Due to his personal setbacks, Jonathan Majors put his career in great danger and, above all, risked spending his life away from film sets for a few months. Before the verdict was rendered, Kang’s interpreter could receive a one-year prison sentence… A sentence that has not been pronounced ! After a proper trial, the actor, on parole, was only sentenced to a one-year probation and must, at the same time, follow a domestic violence intervention program (during the entire duration of his probation) and be subject to mental health therapy by order of the judge.

As indicated in the report of the BBC, the actor did not stop outside the courtroom to make any comment on the verdict rendered by the courts. For his part, Disney will be able to resume its work which aimed to erase all traces of Kang and Jonathan Majors in the MCUeven if it will remain inseparable from the previously mentioned productions such as Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania. Where there is already change, it is for the rest of the MCU since the next part of the Avengers has lost its subtitle, namely The Kang Dynastyin favor of a simple number. As for his replacement, the latest rumors refer to Dr. Doom (also known as Dr. Doom), but we are still waiting for confirmation from Disney and Marvel.
