Once again, Denis Villeneuve has proven his talent for directing science fiction feature films. The direction of Denis Villeneuve, the universe of Frank Herbert and the acting performance of Timothée Chalamet and Zendaya truly won over the spectators. If you haven’t yet gone to see it in the cinema, because you’re not convinced that this production is worth it, James Cameron admitted to having really enjoyed it. He compared it with David Lynch’s 1984 adaptation, which he said was disappointing.
James Cameron validates Dune: Part 2
Recently, James Cameron spoke about Dune and its film adaptations. He did not mince his words in expressing very clearly his preference for the production of Denis Villeneuve over that of David Lynch in 1984.
David Lynch’s film adaptation was disappointing. It lacked the power of Frank Herbert’s novel. Denis Villeneuve’s feature films are much more convincing. The characters are well defined, they are very identifiable. It’s pure cinema. I speak regularly with Denis, from one filmmaker to another. We record our conversations, like Truffaut and Hitchcock did.
James Cameron, in addition to being close to the Quebec filmmaker, validates his two Dune films. Thus, everything seems favorable for this adaptation to become an essential. A third opus is already in development, despite the reluctance expressed by the director. Of course, fans won’t be able to watch it right away, but everything seems to be speeding up.
