In just a few days in theaters, this feature film has achieved the feat of already being considered the worst film of the year!

The worst and best of cinema 2024

It’s been almost two weeks since the second part of Dune appeared in the cinema. The sequel to Denis Villeneuve’s feature film achieves the feat of being even more acclaimed than its predecessor. It must be said that the first film left its mark with its unique aesthetic and its particularly careful production. Dune also benefits from a five-star cast with the presence of Timothée Chalamet and Zendaya who are very popular lately. With so many qualities on the clock, this sequel is already considered by some as the best film of the year 2024, or even the best science fiction production ever made.

With Planet of the Apes: The New Kingdom of Furiosa, Deadpool 3 and Vice-Versa 2, 2024 has everything to honor the seventh art. However, a feature film is already unanimously considered the worst film of the year. With an average of 10% from the specialized press and 7% from spectators on Rotten Tomatoes, it is difficult to say that this production is a success. This is Megamind vs. the Doom Syndicate, the sequel to the animated film Megamind released in 2010.

This Megamind movie is a resounding failure

If you like animated films, you probably know Megamind. This blue character with a disproportionate head had his moment of glory in 2010 with a feature film devoted to his story. While it’s also not a staple of the genre, it has enjoyed generally positive reviews with an average of 73% on Rotten Tomatoes. However, fourteen years later, it seems that this supervillain is no longer at the peak of his popularity… Far from it. Released on March 1 in the United States, this sequel failed to capture the public. The English dubbing cast is not the same as that of 2010, the plot does not have sufficiently interesting threats and the general quality of the film leaves something to be desired. Without knowing the exact budget of this production, it would seem that it has been significantly reduced for this new opus. The animation resembles, according to spectators, an animated series that could be shown on television and not a large-scale feature film. A few days after its release, its average on Rotten Tomatoes was 0%, but increased to stagnate at 7%. The year isn’t over yet, but Megamind vs. the Doom Syndicate has the potential to actually be the worst film of 2024.
