Paul Rudd and James Cameron will make us explore underwater worlds to introduce us to animals that have nourished the imagination of many artists.

National Geographic takes the octopus

After Secrets of the Whales (narrated by Sigourney Weaver) and Secrets of the Elephants (narrated by Natalie Portman), Secret of the Octopus will introduce the world of octopuses to viewers via a three-episode miniseries which will be broadcast from April 21 on National Geographic, on the occasion of Earth Day. Paul Rudd (Ant-Man, Ghostbusters) will lend his voice to narrate the episodes of the documentary, executive produced by none other than James Cameron. “They are the most mysterious creatures on the planet. They are thought leaders. Shapeshifters. They are so incredibly foreign, and yet closer to us than we could have ever imagined” we hear in the trailer available in autoplay.

In a press release taken by GamesRadarPaul Rudd says: “I had an incredible experience learning about these mysterious creatures and their interconnected lives. I can’t imagine that audiences won’t be as blown away by the secret lives of octopuses as I was working on this series“. He adds : If you want to delve into natural history, you have to do it with National Geographic. I’m excited to work with James Cameron and the Nat Geo team to deepen our connection to the ocean and all its creatures and curiosities. The site also tells us that documentaries on penguins and bees are also in preparation.

Under water

James Cameron’s passion for underwater/aquatic universes is well established since he directed Piranha 2, Abyss and Avatar. He also produced the documentary “Abyss Volcanoes”, which plunges the viewer into the abyssal depths in search of buried secrets. Regarding the film Abyss, the latter will return on April 24, 2024 in 4K. As a reminder, the fact that animals actually died during the filming of a sequence pushed Disney to cancel the release of this restored version in the United Kingdom. Initially, the group agreed to remove the scene for the 4K release, but Lightstorm Entertainment, Cameron’s production company, ultimately refused to remove it.
