This comedy series was a hit last year on Netflix and judging by its new cast, it’s set to last. A Marvel star is notably on board for the second season.
Once again, the year 2023 has given us a bunch of series that are worth watching. And in this ocean of entertainment, one name has casually stood out, rising to the level of other big hits like Succession or The Bear. This is Acharnés, a work produced by A24 (Euphoria, The Idol) and released exclusively on Netflix. It must be said that the show, created by Lee Sung Jin, tells a not ordinary story: following an accident in a parking lot, two characters, Amy and Danny, embark on an escalation of revenge. Except that, in this absurd quest, they will gradually discover each other’s lives. A concept that critics loved, as evidenced by the 98% rating on the reference site Rotten Tomatoes. Acharnés was also a hit at the Emmy Awards, where it won more than a dozen prizes. A second season is naturally in the works.

A Marvel star in Season 2?
Speaking of season 2, Deadline reveals his indiscretions to us in a recent article… According to the media, it is no longer Anne Hathaway and Jake Gyllenhaal who are expected to play the next crazy couple in Acharnés, but Carey Mulligan and Oscar Isaac. The latter actor is well known to pop culture fans, having played the leading role in the Marvel series Moon Knight; but also Poe Dameron in the last Star Wars trilogy as well as the boss of the Atreides house in Dune… As for Carey Mulligan, you may have seen her in The Great Gatsby or Drive.

Deadline also reports thatto date, the sequel to Acharnés has not yet been validated | has not yet entered production… So there is a world where another duo will take the spotlight in season 2! In any case, it will not be easy to do better (or just equal) the performance of Steven Yeun and Ali Wong, the stars of the first part. Both were widely applauded for their performance. The ten episodes of the first season are still available on Netflix.
