France recently welcomed a new local player to the SVOD market. Faced with Netflix, Amazon Prime Video and Disney+ which are blocking this growing sector, the streaming platform is playing the free card to attract customers. This month of February 2024, a science fiction film is enriching its catalog. Small downside, it’s clearly not a masterpiece. But since it’s free, it can’t hurt.

TF1+ is the brand new SVOD service launched on January 8 by the French telecommunications giant TF1. With its 15,000 hours of referenced content (series, films and anime combined) and its free offer with advertisements, this Franco-French competitor intends to carve out a place for itself in a particularly competitive and coveted streaming market. TF1+ also offers a Premium subscription at 5.99 euros/month to all those wanting to escape advertising spots and wishing to see a preview of certain new programs produced by TF1. Every week, several new releases arrive in the catalog, including the science fiction film that interests us today.

Infinity according to Mark Wahlberg

Infinite is an action and science fiction film directed by Antoine Fuqua and written by Ian Shorr based on the short story The Reincarnationist Papers written by Eric Maikranz in 2009. The name of the filmmaker behind the camera is probably not unknown to you. He is at the origin, among others, of Training Day (2001), King Arthur (2004) as well as the Equalizer trilogy (2014 – 2018 – 2023). Infinite had put all the chances on its side by offering the services of Mark Walhlberg (Max Payne, Uncharted) and Chiwetel Ejiofor (Alone on Mars, The Old Guard, Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness), but was ultimately a failure critical and commercial. This sci-fi project suffered in particular from the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020, forcing Paramount Pictures to release the film directly on SVOD without going through cinemas.

The synopsis of the film Infinite:

Evan has disturbing memories of places he doesn’t know. While he is totally lost, he is contacted by members of a secret society. They teach him that his memories are scraps of his past lives… – TF1+

The cast of the film Infinite:

  • Mark Wahlberg – Evan McCauley / Heinrich Treadway (2020)
  • Chiwetel Ejiofor – Otto Bathurst (2020)
  • Sophie Cookson – Nora Brightman
  • Jason Mantzoukas – The Artisan
  • Rupert Friend – (Otto Bathurst 1985)
  • Toby Jones – Bryan Porter
  • Dylan O’Brien – Heinrich Treadway (1985)

You only have a few days left to see Infinite on TF1+ (deletion on February 21, 2024).
